What is the cost of lessons? Tuition is charged by the month and includes the private weekly lessons as well as the group lessons. Please see Carolyn for the current rate. This fee is comparable to other academies and schools. |

Private instruction is offered from September through June for the academic year. The summer session, consisting of approximately six weeks, occurs during July and the first half of August. Group lessons are also offered during this time at no extra cost and meet Monday evenings (usually two per month) in Bellevue (the group does not meet during the months of August, September and December). Tuition is prorated over 10 months (Sept – June) and students are charged the same amount each month regardless of vacations, holidays or 5 private lesson months. There are no promised makeup lessons. If your student is ill or if you choose to take a vacation other than during the scheduled no teaching days, or if you miss a lesson for any reason, you will be charged for the missed lesson. If you take an extended vacation during the academic year (missing one month or more of lessons), you will be charged ½ of your regular tuition in order to hold your place as a regular student. If this extension goes beyond two months, your scheduled lesson time can be filled with another student, unless special arrangements have been made. You are welcome to trade lesson times with other students (please request a list of student times from Carolyn). If you have missed a lesson and a cancellation comes in, you will be notified of the cancellation. In the event of Carolyn’s illness or absence due to professional reasons or any other absence not included in the no teaching days, you will be credited for the appropriate amount if a makeup cannot be scheduled. This is the only time a makeup is authorized by the Academy. Summer lessons are scheduled in July and the first half of August on a mutually available basis. Lessons are charged by the lesson and payable by the month. Each student is expected to have a minimum of two lessons during July and August. If this is not possible, a fee is charged to hold your place for fall registration and is added to the regular annual registration fee. A yearly registration fee is due annually in August and covers all non-tuition expenses. |
